How Much Does an Aesthetic Business Coach Cost?
An aesthetic business coach can cost anything from a single session fee to several thousand dollars a month, depending on whether you’re buying advice, accountability or a team that does the work. Ours are published: $399 for a one off strategy session, and coaching plans at $1,999, $3,999 and $4,999 a month. This post covers the four ways coaching is sold, what should be included at each level, the other costs to budget for, how to work out whether it’ll pay for itself, and when it isn’t worth the money. I’ve written it from inside the job, so I’ll be plain about where the money goes.
What are you paying for?
Four different things get called coaching. They’re priced very differently because they are different things.
- A course. Recorded lessons and templates. The lowest price, and you do all of the work yourself.
- A group programme. Regular calls with other owners and a community. Good for ideas and company. Nobody is looking closely at your numbers.
- One to one coaching. Sessions about your clinic, with your figures on the screen. You get a plan that fits. You still have to build it.
- Coaching with implementation. The coach sets the direction and a team builds it: the automations, the campaigns, the pages, the reporting. The highest fee, and it usually replaces an agency, a freelancer or two and some software.
Most confusion about price comes from comparing across those four. A course and a done for you plan aren’t two prices for the same thing. Work out which one you need before you compare anybody’s fees.
What do our plans cost, and what’s in them?
Here’s ours, in Australian dollars, exactly as they appear on the pricing page.
- Strategy session, $399 one off. 60 minutes with me, your accounts and numbers reviewed beforehand, and a written plan within 48 hours.
- Foundation, $1,999 a month. 5 hours of support and implementation, 1 hour one on one with me, ClinicOS included.
- Ignite, $3,999 a month. 15 hours with the full team, ad management and SEO included, ClinicOS included.
- Scale, $4,999 a month. 20 hours, priority scheduling, custom app builds, ClinicOS included.
The plans have an initial commitment of three months, then run month to month with 30 days written notice. Every plan includes a project manager in a private Slack channel and every session is recorded.
The difference between the plans is mostly pace. The same work gets done in the same order on all three. More hours means more of it runs at once.
What else should you budget for?
Four things sit outside any coaching fee, ours included.
- Ad spend. Paid directly to Google, Meta or whichever platform you use. It never passes through us and we don’t take a percentage of it.
- Tax and card fees. GST is added where it applies, and card payments carry a 2.5% fee.
- The software you keep. Your clinical records system stays, alongside whatever the coach provides.
- Your time. Onboarding sits in the first fortnight and needs some of your attention. After that it’s your session and a few messages a week.
Ask any coach for the same list before you sign. The fee is rarely the whole cost, and the honest ones will tell you the rest without being pushed.
How do you work out whether coaching will pay for itself?
With three of your own numbers: enquiries a month, the share that become patients, and what a new patient is worth in their first year. If a realistic lift in the middle number doesn’t cover the fee several times over, don’t buy.
Here’s the sum using the example figures from the calculator on our pricing page.
- 60 enquiries a month
- 35% become patients today
- 45% with fast replies, follow up and a structured consultation
- 6 extra patients a month
- $1,200 average first year value
- $86,400 in extra revenue a year
Against that, Foundation costs $23,988 a year and Ignite costs $47,988.
That’s an illustration, not a promise. Your enquiries, your conversion and your patient value will all be different, which is exactly why you should run it with your own. If you don’t know your numbers yet, that’s the first thing to fix, and you don’t need a coach to count them.
Be realistic about timing as well. Month one is mostly building. Month three is where things start to move. Month six is when it looks obvious in hindsight. Anyone promising a result in a fortnight is selling something else.
When is coaching not worth the money?
More often than coaches admit. I’d tell you to wait if any of these apply.
- You haven’t opened yet, or you’re still deciding which treatments to offer.
- You need a result in the next two weeks.
- You want somebody to run ads and nothing else. Hire an agency for that.
- You can’t change your pricing or your process right now.
- You’re looking for someone to agree with you.
If cash is tight, start smaller. One paid session will give you a written plan to work through on your own. The workbooks and scripts in our free Vault cost nothing at all.
What should you ask before paying any coach?
Six questions. The good ones enjoy being asked.
- Have you run a clinic yourself?
- What exactly is included, and who does the work?
- What will month one, month three and month six look like?
- What’s the minimum term, and how do I leave?
- Do I own everything that gets built?
- How well do you know the AHPRA and TGA advertising rules?
The last one matters more than it sounds. A coach who suggests reposting your reviews or naming treatments you can’t name is creating a problem with your name on it. There’s more on choosing well in what an aesthetic business coach really does.
Frequently asked questions
How much does an aesthetic business coach cost in Australia?
It depends on what’s being sold. Courses and group programmes sit at the lower end, and one to one coaching with a team doing the work sits at the top. Our own prices are $399 for a single session and $1,999, $3,999 or $4,999 a month for coaching plans.
Is there a minimum term?
On our coaching plans, three months, then month to month with 30 days written notice. Minimum terms vary between coaches, so ask before you sign and get it in writing.
Is ad spend included in the fee?
No. Ad spend is paid directly to the platforms and is separate from any plan. On our Ignite and Scale plans the management of the ads is included, with no percentage taken from your spend.
Can I start with a single session?
Yes. The strategy session is a one off 60 minutes for $399. Your accounts and numbers are reviewed before the call and you get a written plan within 48 hours. There’s no plan or retainer attached.
How quickly does coaching pay for itself?
It varies with your starting point and how quickly changes get made. Expect the first month to be mostly building and the third to show real movement. Run the sum with your own enquiries, conversion and patient value before you commit.
Is a coach cheaper than a marketing agency?
They do different jobs. An agency runs a channel. A coach works on the whole clinic. Plans that include implementation can replace an agency retainer and several software subscriptions, so compare the total you spend now with the total you’d spend after.
